Super Fat: to use a small excess of ‘free’ fatty acids in a recipe that are deliberately NOT converted to soap. Instead, these tiny oil molecules remain within the soap matrix and are then transferred to your skin when washing. This is not to say that your skin will feel oily because only a minuscule percentage is used.

The Circling Taiwan Swirl was a perfect choice for my Watermelon Swirl soap design. Using two dividers, I created the three sections needed for this technique, which involves laying multiple-colored lines along the mold. Once completed, a chopstick is used to swirl the soap down the length of the mold and then around the edge to create a circular pattern. The result is a delicate, beautiful look with crisp lines and repeating patterns.
Instead of cutting the soap as one would cut a loaf of bread, this design requires a horizontal cut. Large chunks are cut and then laid on their sides and cut into two, creating bars that are mirror images of each other. Neat, right?
What a pleasant surprise it was to find owls, swans, and a black-and-white bear face hidden within the loaf of soap! Horizontal cut bars are always amazing, often
