A Traditional Beard Wash Bar

A good beard deserves a good wash. Bandit’s Stout Beard Soap is crafted using stout beer and a thoughtfully balanced blend of oils and butters to produce a rich, creamy lather designed to cleanse the beard while leaving it feeling comfortable and manageable.

The formula combines traditional soapmaking ingredients with a carefully chosen oil profile that produces a stable, cushioning lather well suited to coarse beard hair.

Estimated Longevity

Estimated longevity will vary depending on lathering preference and beard characteristics. Using the bar directly on the beard will generally use more soap than building a lather in the hands and applying it. Beard length and thickness also play a role, as longer or denser beards typically require more product per wash.

When used approximately twice per week:

  • Short beard: about 3–4 months
  • Medium beard: about 2–3 months
  • Long/thick beard: about 1.5–2 months

Why A Beer Beard Soap

Beer has long been used by soapmakers because it contains natural sugars and brewing compounds that help create a dense, creamy lather. When incorporated into soap, these components contribute to the rich foam that many people enjoy during washing.

In Bandit’s Stout Beard Soap, stout beer contributes to both the character of the bar and the creamy lather that makes washing the beard feel smooth and satisfying.

Who This Beard Soap Is For

Bandit’s Stout Beard Soap is designed for men who want a straightforward and effective way to wash their beard.

It works well for:

Short beards that need regular cleansing
Medium to longer beards that benefit from a rich lather during washing
Coarse beard hair that requires a little more cushion during washing
Beards exposed to daily grime or product buildup

How to Use

Wet your beard thoroughly with warm water.

Rub the bar between your hands or directly on the beard to build a rich lather. Work the lather through the beard from the skin outward, making sure the hairs are evenly coated.

Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

After washing, many men like to apply Hop & Bacuri Beard Tonic while the beard is still slightly damp. Allow the conditioner to sit briefly before rinsing to help leave the beard feeling softer and easier to manage.

Once the beard has been gently dried, a few drops of Bearded Bandit Beard Oil can be worked through the beard for daily conditioning. When the beard is fully dry, Bearded Bandit Beard Balm can be applied to help shape the beard and keep stray hairs in place.

What to Expect

This soap is designed to produce a creamy, stable lather that cleans the beard thoroughly while leaving it feeling comfortable and refreshed.

The blend of oils and butters helps balance cleansing with a mild conditioning feel, helping prevent the beard from feeling overly stripped after washing.

As with any true soap, the beard will feel clean and ready for additional grooming products such as beard oil, balm, or conditioner.

Pair It With

For a complete beard care routine, Bandit’s Stout Beard Soap pairs well with other grooming products from The Bearded Bandit.

Many customers enjoy using:

Bandit’s Stout Beard Soap to cleanse the beard and remove daily buildup
Hop & Bacuri Beard Tonic for conditioning after washing
Bearded Bandit Beard Oil for daily softness and manageability
Bearded Bandit Beard Balm for shaping and light hold

Used together, these products help create a simple routine that keeps the beard feeling clean, comfortable, and well groomed throughout the day.

Follow With Beard Conditioner

After washing the beard with shampoo, beard wash, or bar soap, the hair cuticle can lift slightly during the cleansing process. Following with a conditioner helps smooth the hair cuticle, improving the overall feel and manageability of the beard.

Using a conditioner after washing helps:

• improve beard manageability
• reduce static and tangling
• leave the beard smoother and easier to comb

For best results, follow with Hop & Bacuri Beard Tonic, our rinse-out beard conditioner designed to help keep the beard soft, manageable, and comfortable.

A well-conditioned beard is easier to maintain, easier to style, and simply feels better throughout the day.

Why These Ingredients

Stout Guinness Beer
Beer contributes natural sugars and brewing compounds that help create a dense, creamy lather that feels smooth during washing. Each loaf of this soap (11 bars) is made with two 11.2 oz bottles of Guinness Stout Beer that have been gently simmered to remove the carbonation and alcohol before being used in the soapmaking process. What remains are the natural sugars from the beer, which help contribute to a lively, frothy lather during use.

Beer has long been used by soapmakers as a liquid ingredient because its natural sugars can help support a rich lather while adding an interesting twist to traditional soapmaking. After preparation, the beer replaces the water normally used in the recipe, becoming part of the soap during saponification.

The result is a handcrafted bar that produces a satisfying lather while showcasing one of the more creative ingredients sometimes used in traditional soapmaking.

Olive Oil & High-Oleic Safflower Oil
These oils help create a mild, balanced soap that contributes to a comfortable cleansing experience.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil provides the primary cleansing power of the soap while helping produce a strong lather.

Castor Oil
Castor oil helps stabilize and enrich the lather, producing a creamy foam that spreads easily through beard hair.

Illipe, Shea, Mango & Cocoa Butters
These rich botanical butters contribute to the creamy texture and stable lather that make the soap pleasant to use.

Sodium Lactate & EDTA
These ingredients help improve bar hardness and support consistent performance even in areas with harder water.

Why Use a Real Soap Beard Wash

Many beard washes on the market are made with detergent-based cleansers rather than traditional soap. These cleansers can work well, but they are chemically different from soap made through the traditional saponification process.

Bandit’s Stout Beard Soap is created through traditional soapmaking, where oils and butters are combined with alkali to produce true soap. This process creates a bar that cleans by lifting oils and debris so they can be rinsed away with water.

True soap produces a rich, satisfying lather and offers a straightforward way to wash the beard using ingredients that have been used in soapmaking for generations.

Beard Hair Is Different From Scalp Hair

Beard hair is typically thicker, coarser, and more irregular in shape than the hair on the scalp. Because of this structure, it can feel rougher and may require a little more care to keep it comfortable and manageable.

Regular washing helps remove dirt, excess oils, and product buildup from the beard. Following a wash with a beard conditioner, oil, or balm can help improve the feel of the beard and make it easier to comb and shape.

Inspired by a Pint of Stout

The appearance of the bar reflects its beer-inspired character—a deep, dark body with a lighter top reminiscent of the creamy head of a stout.

It’s a small visual nod to the brewing tradition behind the soap.

A Note on Ingredients & Expectations

Soap cleans by lifting dirt and oils away from the hair and skin so they can be rinsed away with water. The oils and butters in this formula help create a balanced lather designed to cleanse effectively while leaving the beard feeling comfortable.

Because beard hair is naturally coarse and structured, many men find that following a wash with beard conditioner, beard oil, or beard balm helps maintain softness and manageability.

As with any grooming product, results can vary depending on beard length, thickness, and individual hair characteristics.
